Mid-Level Legal Counsel

We are currently seeking for a Mid-Level Legal Counsel to work in our Moscow office (no remote work, no hybrid schedule, strictly at office).

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mid-Level Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team in the oil, gas, and petrochemical trading industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts under English law, handling claims analysis, and coordinating with external consultants to ensure that the company’s legal and regulatory obligations are met. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial transactions and legal issues in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting and Review:
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to sale and purchase agreements, supply contracts, transportation agreements, and confidentiality agreements, primarily governed by English law.

Legal Analysis and Risk Mitigation:
Provide legal analysis and advice on contractual terms, identifying and mitigating legal risks, ensuring the company’s interests are protected in commercial agreements.

Claims and Dispute Management:
Analyze and assess claims, disputes, and potential liabilities arising from contractual or operational activities. Provide recommendations to mitigate risk and support resolution strategies.

Consultant Coordination:
Coordinate with external legal counsel, consultants, and other stakeholders on complex matters such as regulatory compliance, litigation, or arbitration. Ensure timely and effective communication and collaboration.

Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all trading and commercial activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to anti-corruption, sanctions, and environmental laws.

Internal Support and Training:
Provide legal support and training to internal departments such as sales, procurement, and operations, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory standards.

Document Management and Reporting:
Maintain proper documentation of all legal activities and contracts. Regularly update senior management on key legal issues, risks, and case developments.

Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) and professional qualification from a recognized legal body. A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in commercial law would be advantageous.

Experience:

4-6 years of post-qualification experience as a legal counsel or lawyer, preferably in the energy, oil & gas, or petrochemical trading sectors.
Strong knowledge of English law and its application to international commercial contracts.
Experience in claims management, dispute resolution, and coordinating external legal teams.

Skills:
Proven expertise in drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts under English law.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in legal research and Microsoft Office applications.
Languages:
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Additional language skills would be a plus.
