Design the plan: Decide which tools and methods are best to answer a client’s specific research question

Work with diverse data: Analyze RNA-seq, WES, and other omics from clinical trials, archival samples, or public datasets

Connect the dots: Explain your findings through the lens of molecular biology and oncology

Tell the story: Create clear reports and charts that effectively deliver complex findings to stakeholders, focusing on the "so what?" of the results

Biology: You have a deep understanding of molecular biology and oncology

Bioinformatics Expertise:
-
QC: Checking data quality (FastQC, RSeQC)
-
Processing: Running alignments and quantification (BWA-mem, Kallisto)
-
Transcriptomics: Differential expression and pathway analysis (DESeq2, GSEA)

Genomics: Calling mutations and copy number changes (Strelka, Sequenza)

Technical stack:

Data Analysis: You are comfortable using Python for data analysis (Pandas)

Machine Learning: You have a solid grasp of classical ML and understand how basic ML algorithms work: Regressions, Decision Trees, Clustering (Scikit-learn)

Statistics: You have a strong foundation in math stats and a clear understanding of which tests to use and why (Scipy)

Infrastructure: You are are comfortable using the command line for automation and data manipulation (Linux / Bash)

Education: Master’s or Specialist degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, or a related field

Languages: English at B2 level or higher

Problem-Solving Mindset: You focus on solving the actual research problem to ensure your insights provide real value to the client

Scientifically Curious: You don’t just run code; you want to build a logical "story" from the results

Bridge-Builder: You can explain biological needs to ML engineers or developers and translate complex computational results for clinicians or managers

1+ years of experience in industry or a strong track record in applied academic research
