Legal adviser / Юрист (шиппинг; морское международное право)

International Commodity Trading Group is looking for a Legal adviser to join their Legal team.

Candidate shall be responsible for:

• Corporate support of companies in different jurisdictions (preparing different sorts of corporate documentation, liaising with the corporate secretaries, banks, other official bodies and entities on all on going corporate issues, assistance in other related corporate matters);
• Concluding of insurance contracts (P&I and H&M, sea carriage of cargoes);
• KYC, due diligence and sanction compliance in respect of vessels and entities;
• Legal support of registration of vessels (preparing the documentation as per the vessel’s flag requirements, coordination of the process, negotiations with the flag/registration agents);
• Drafting, reviewing of different transactions in accordance with the particulars of the business activities performed by the group (under the Russian and English law), such as time and bareboat charter parties, shipmans, repair contracts, novation and assignment agreements, broker agreements, NDA, outsourcing agreements, contracts for different types of services, etc.);
• Liaising with the treasury team on all ongoing matters, where legal team’ assistance is required;
• Legal assistance in claims negotiations on different shipping claims (demurrage, deviation, off-hire disputes, support of insurance claims)

Qualifications/Personal Attributes:

• Bachelor’s and master degree, preferably in international, civil, maritime, commercial law;
• Good knowledge and understanding of corporate support in different jurisdictions;
• Good knowledge of sanctions, enacted to influence commodity trading and carriage of goods by sea;
• The candidate must have qualification and at least 5 years of professional experience in Russian civil law, in international marine shipping issues, in corporate law principles under different jurisdictions;
• Excellent analytical capabilities;
• Prior-experience in handling claims (pre-trial settlement/courts/arbitration);
• Must have an ability to handle multiple tasks;
• Must have strong desire to learn new subjects and disciplines;
• High level of proficiency in English (both written and oral);
• Good computer skills.
