About the Role

Our client, one of the world’s leading international FMCG companies, is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead and develop the Quality Assurance function at its manufacturing plant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring product quality, food safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement across the entire production chain — from incoming raw materials to the final consumer.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Food Safety

  • Lead and ensure the effective implementation of the plant’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal company standards, applicable legislation, GMP requirements and relevant international standards.
  • Oversee quality control of raw materials, packaging materials, finished products and critical production inputs.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate inspection, testing and laboratory procedures, including equipment and employee training.
  • Ensure full product traceability through proper coding and labelling.
  • Monitor and improve consumer and customer complaint KPIs, leading corrective and preventive actions to improve satisfaction.
  • Coordinate quality and image control activities at post-mix and pre-mix points.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Maintain effective communication with relevant governmental and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with local legal requirements and keep all relevant plant permits, licences and approvals up to date.
  • Monitor compliance of QA laboratories, syrup rooms, water treatment, water sources and wastewater treatment units with applicable safety, environmental and energy-management requirements.

Management Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of management systems covering Quality, Food Safety, Environment and Business Continuity.
  • Lead activities related to risk assessment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, non-conformity management, document control, internal audits, GMP inspections and management reviews.
  • Drive Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure process capability and develop corrective action programmes to prevent or minimise non-conformities and production losses.
  • Support productivity improvement, loss reduction and efficiency initiatives while protecting product quality and brand reputation.

Supplier & New Product Quality

  • Lead quality approval processes for new products, raw materials, packaging materials and suppliers.
  • Coordinate trials and validation activities for new materials and products.
  • Provide quality and food safety feedback to suppliers and lead relevant DMR preparation processes.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, develop and motivate the Quality Assurance team.
  • Identify employee development needs and implement training and development plans.
  • Monitor employee performance and engagement and initiate actions to improve working conditions and team effectiveness.
  • Ensure the availability of the required resources, equipment and capabilities to support QA operations.

Budget & Operations

  • Manage the Quality Assurance Department budget, including CAPEX, OPEX, RFA and Headcount planning.
  • Identify operational and resource requirements and ensure appropriate budgeting.
  • Monitor the efficiency of critical inputs such as syrup and sugar.
  • Ensure maintenance programmes and required resources are in place for QA-related units and facilities.

Requirements

  • University degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience, preferably within FMCG or a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management and Food Safety systems.
  • Experience working with governmental and regulatory authorities is an advantage.
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • C Class Health & Safety certification is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, CAPA, root-cause analysis, internal audits and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate, develop and effectively manage a team.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented.
