Senior Legal Counsel (Payments, IT)

The position will support e-commerce B2C marketplace business of AliExpress platform. Responsibilities will include, without limitation:

What you'll be doing:

• Counseling on a broad range of payments related matters, including international payment flow models, contracts with banks, payment systems
• Legal support of IT processes, including reviewing and drafting agreements with software and hardware vendors, distributors, resellers (software license contracts, goods sales agreements), contracts with other suppliers of goods and services for R&D/Tech team
• Reviewing and drafting general contracts, including online marketplace user terms (in part of the responsibility area)
• Conducting legal research on IT and payments related issues
• Advising the various business units on new projects for AliExpress platform, including integrations with partners, review from Legal of new R&D developments, modules, applications
• Proactive solutions and suggestions to further improve the functioning of Legal and other departments

What skills you'll need:

• 3−6 years of strong and solid experience practicing Russian laws, minimum 1-year experience on IT and payments matters (pls focus in your CV on your experience related to payments & IT)
• Good knowledge of and interest in the information technology and payments regulation
• Russian language proficiency essential. English language proficiency, including strong legal English. Legal drafting in English is a must
• Open-mindedness and tolerance, high ethical standards and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; business judgment, with the ability to give practical advice to internal clients and business teams
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, high level of communication, strong social skills; high energy and the ability to interface with and gain the respect of stakeholders at all levels
• Be prepared when needed to give advice that is urgent, be ready to grow out of your comfort zone and outperform in a start-up culture
• Ability to work independently and to multi-task in ambiguous and fast-paced work environment
• Good time management, ability to balance the speed with quality
