About the Role
De Montfort University Kazakhstan (DMUK), a British university in Almaty, is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Academic Affairs Officer to support the delivery of high-quality academic programmes in partnership with De Montfort University Leicester (UK) and NCUK.
This role is key to ensuring smooth academic administration, maintaining compliance with international standards, and supporting both students and academic staff throughout the academic lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Partnerships & Programme Coordination
- Act as a liaison between DMUK and academic partners (DMU Leicester and NCUK)
- Coordinate academic communications, documentation, and meetings
- Ensure compliance with academic regulations and quality standards
- Support academic governance processes (Programme Management Boards, Assessment Boards, Progression & Awards Boards, External Examiners)
- Monitor module delivery, assessment schedules, and academic timelines
- Prepare reports on student progression, completion, and performance
- Support accreditation processes, audits, and quality assurance reviews
Academic Administration & Systems
- Maintain accurate student and academic data in internal systems
- Manage academic records (enrolments, withdrawals, deferrals, suspensions, completions)
- Apply academic policies and procedures (appeals, misconduct, mitigating circumstances)
- Coordinate academic calendar, timetables, and examination schedules
Student & Faculty Support
- Support student induction and registration processes
- Provide guidance to academic staff on regulations, grading, and reporting requirements
- Assist with academic advising in collaboration with Student Services
- Respond to student queries on assessments, results, and academic progression
Data Management & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of academic data
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders (DMU, NCUK, regulatory bodies)
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and Ministry of Education requirements
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other administrative duties within the scope of the role
- Support tasks assigned by the Head of Academic Quality and Systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Proficient English speaker (Upper-Intermediate / Advanced level required)
- Experience in a higher education environment (university setting) is preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with academic systems or databases is an advantage
- High attention to detail and ability to work with regulations and deadlines
